The Great Outdoor Center is looking for a well-organized and proactive Financial Controller to join their team in Kirkland Lake! The Financial Controller position will be responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all accounting functions in company operations.

The main responsibilities of this role will include:
Managing the consolidation of all company financial data and the monthly financial closure process.
Preparation of all journal entries and monthly remittances including HST, RST and WSIB.
Reconcile relevant balance sheet accounts monthly.
Process bi-weekly payroll.
Assist with confirmation of parts and equipment inventory checks.
Review and analyze accounting documents and relevant accounting standards to ensure transactions are appropriately accounted for.
Ensure accruals are completed in a timely manner.
Lead/participate in monthly financial meetings with management team and ensure company financial goals are being met and offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
Work with management to ensure proper profit-maximizing operations are being followed in the workplace.
Prepare ad hoc reporting, analysis and investigation as needed.
Liaise with independent accounting firm and assist with year-end preparation.
Maintain and develop internal control policies, procedures and processes.
Other duties as needed.

The ideal candidate would have and be good at: Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field. 5+ years of relevant work experience (accounting, cost accounting, financial analysis), ideally in the automotive, transportation & logistics, or a related sector. CPA designation preferred. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Motivated, team player and ability to thrive in fast paced, high energy environment. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Professional, self-confident and able to work independently Excellent problem-solving skills and using creativity to find the best solution. Amazing communication skills, both written and verbally. Bilingualism considered an asset. A good understanding of Excel Spreadsheets and other accounting software. Strong knowledge of internal controls. Manipulating various data and files to produce reports for financial analysis. Managing multiple time-sensitive tasks to completion; engaging external and internal business partners and management for input when needed. Strong customer service skills and a positive can-do attitude. Excellent organizational skills.
