Summary:


The Field Engineer (Engineer) is primarily responsible for interfacing and ensuring readiness of critical equipment for offshore installation and intervention projects. The Engineer serves as a primary technical interface for customers and works with various 3rd parties to ensure all project requirements are met. Additionally, the Engineer authors and makes recommendations for operational procedures to be used in shop and offshore settings. When deployed offshore, the Engineer verifies procedures are followed and is the client s first point of contact for any technical questions. The role requires a highly motivated individual who strives to continuously improve the assets, standards, and processes of the Intervention department.


This position will be based from the Trendsetter office located in Houston, TX, but requires travel on a regular basis in support of field operations. The position offers bonuses and a competitive salary based on applicant s experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provide leadership and engineering support for intervention systems in areas including design, assembly, testing, repair, and maintenance.
  • Lead offshore field operations including interventions and installations as required.
  • Write shift/rotation handovers and generate reports for field/offshore operations.
  • Interface with the client throughout the project life cycle as the primary technical representative for interventions systems and project support topics.
  • Generate and author field manuals, drawings, and procedures both for assets and client specific projects.
  • Manage rig-book manuals, repairs, and maintenance for department assets.
  • Perform design and analysis for new products and modification of existing equipment.
  • Develop specifications and test requirements that drive product design.
  • Manage equipment build handovers between Trendsetter Projects team and Rentals & Services departments. Clearly communicate design requirements for various project scopes.
  • Coordination of support with third party companies and other Trendsetter departments as required.
  • Provide input for the continued improvement of existing processes and assets. Contribute to the development of new techniques and technology in support of subsea operations.
  • Gain a thorough understanding of all Trendsetter supplied equipment.
  • Interface with Project Managers and Technician staff as required, ensuring technical information is accurate and consistent.
  • Stay abreast of developments which impact the industry and Trendsetter supplied equipment such as regulatory requirements in GOM and other regions.
  • Must conform to all policies and procedures of Trendsetter Engineering, Inc.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:


Education and Training:

  • 4 year Engineering Degree. Mechanical, Ocean or Electrical preferred.


Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 2 years in offshore Oil & Gas operations (Drilling, Completion, or Intervention).
  • Minimum of 2 years working with subsea systems such as BOPs, XTs, Flowlines, etc.
  • Experience with hydraulic or mechanical intervention systems is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in API 17G and other industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks and AutoCAD modeling software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Systems (Word, Excel, MS Project).

  • Position is globally deployable and will require Current Passport, Immunizations and training to be kept current as per Trendsetter travel policy.
  • Candidate may be required to travel in support of projects, up to 180 days per year.
