Summary:


The position of Controls Electrical Technician Supervisor requires the ability to supervise the Controls Electrical Technicians. The Controls Electrical Technician Supervisor is to ensure the team delivers on the commitment for time, safety & quality. He or she will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the group and will ensure that the Controls Electrical Technician team is motivated, consistently delivers and strives to better company goals. This individual performs complex mechanical and electrical assembly operations, often to close tolerances, working from written and verbal instructions. Uses hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices and reviews service job requirements and coordinates equipment, etc. for assigned jobs.


POSITION DUTIES:


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Promote safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations
  • Construct, assemble, and test subsea tooling/equipment per specified procedures and quality requirements
  • Responsible for proper documentation of each step-in procedure performed
  • Working knowledge of hand tools and machinery used on TEI facility
  • Knowledge of structural bolted connections
  • Ability to operate overhead crane properly and safely
  • Ability to demonstrate proper rigging techniques
  • Ability to load/off load heavy equipment
  • Ability to assist in operation of TEI or customer equipment
  • Ability to complete proper test charts
  • Ability to implement and troubleshoot digital and serial bus communication interfaces
  • Ability to read and understand one-line diagrams, wirings diagrams, ladder diagrams, electrical schematics, hydraulic schematics, pneumatics schematics and piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Experience building and troubleshooting Subsea Communication Modules, Subsea Power and Communication Units, Electrical Power Units, Master Control Stations, Subsea Electronic Units and Hydraulic Valve Packs
  • Experience working with low and medium voltage (single and 3 phase) power transmission lines
  • Knowledgeable on hydraulic components such as regulators, relief valves, different types of hoses, fittings, and adapters used on test set-ups and assemblies.
  • Assists with FAT s (Factory Acceptance Tests), EFAT s (Extended Factory Acceptance Tests), and SIT s (System Integration Tests) as required
  • Performs diagnostic troubleshooting on failed electronic, hydraulic, or mechanical equipment of minor to moderate difficulty with little guidance
  • Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose problems found with test equipment and product applications using critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently to identifying tools, fixtures, and equipment to perform testing.
  • Must be competent using appropriate tooling (4-20 mA, megger, test connectors, torque wrenches, torque gun, etc.)
  • Familiar with API 17F and API 17G
  • Proficient with NFPA 70, NFPA 70B, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110 and NFPA 111
  • Certified IPC (J-STD-001) Soldering
  • Certified IPC (IPC/WHMA-A-620A) Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies
  • Certified IPC (IPC-A-610D) Electronic Assemblies
  • Act as a Safety Leader ensuring the ongoing identification of hazards and the implementation of controls to manage the associated risks with a special focus on Permit to
  • Work and Isolation procedures.
  • Perform extensive planning & scheduling for personnel, jobs, and trainings.
  • Promote safety awareness and complies with all applicable safety procedures and regulations.
  • Promote teamwork and take an active part in meeting customers service requirements.
  • Act as the immediate supervisor for all TEI controls technicians, including disciplinary action, performance reviews, timecard approval, scheduling, and task organization.
  • Act as the TEI representative supervisor for all third-party subcontractors performing work inside the TEI controls areas. This includes verifying and approving hours worked, as well as helping to ensure all workers adhere to TEI s safety standards.
  • Construct and assemble and test subsea controls and equipment per specified procedures and quality requirements.
  • Operate Trendsetter Engineering or customer equipment if necessary.
  • Leads the execution of the assembly and testing of fast-paced projects.
  • Track employees through competency program.
  • Interact with engineering on any assembly and/or test procedures when changes are required.
  • Interact with 3rd party inspectors and customers relating to their products.
  • Share knowledge & best practices across the company.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Engineering technology degree and/or at least 8 years of oil & gas experience. Experience in a supervisory role.
  • This role requires individuals to be flexible and able to work autonomously
  • Hands-on electro-mechanical repair or assembly experience.
  • Proven teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with implementing and training on OSHA and NFPS 70E safety work practices.
  • Four or more years of experience involving assembly and test of oilfield or similar products.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings including manufacturing, general arrangement, and hydraulic flow/ electrical diagram drawings.
  • Sound mechanical and electrical knowledge including threads and thread forms, limits and fits, measuring units and conversions, basic math and mechanics, and properties of materials.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong decision-making skills, initiative and assertiveness, the ability to plan
  • Must be able to operate an overhead crane and/or jib cranes safely
  • Must be able to operate a forklift

Qualifications: Education: Engineering Degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program. E.I.T. Certification or passed FE exam preferred Experience and Skills: o Minimum of 5 years experience in engineering design and approval processes o Minimum of 2 years experience in subsea equipment design o Proficient in SolidWorks and ANSYS modeling software o Proficient with Microsoft Office Systems (Word, Excel, MS Project) Knowledgeable in AutoCAD 2D and Mathcad software Personal Attributes: Strong leadership and organizational skills Good communication & presentation skills, both written and oral Ability to adapt to change, when required due to the rapid response nature of business Work autonomously as well as under direction Handle multiple projects and deadlines with changing priorities
