Accounting Manager/ Controller

Our client, a leading Structural Contractor in the Southwest Florida area, is looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Controller. The Controller will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, and managing all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, legal, property management, partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.

Responsibilities

Strategy, Planning and Management

  • Act as Controller and strategic business advisor to senior executive leadership team.
  • Assess and evaluate the financial performance of the organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
  • Communicate, engage and interact with the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Create and establish yearly financial objectives that align with the company s plan for growth and expansion.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by senior leadership team.


Financial Analysis, Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Prepare and present monthly financial budgeting reports including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget and cash flow.
  • Review and analyze monthly financial results and provide recommendations.
  • Perform financial planning and analysis


Accounting, General Ledger, Administration and Operations

  • Supervise the accounting department
  • Review and ensure application of appropriate internal control and financial procedures.
  • Prepare and communicate weekly, monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
  • Work with Human Resources to ensure appropriate legal compliance.
  • Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts and overhead cost allocation.
  • Hire, develop and manage accounting staff
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.


Financial Relations and Policies

  • Represent company to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, or public auditors and officials.
  • Remain current on audit best practices as well as state, federal and local laws regarding company operations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Construction Accounting preferred
  • Familiarity with Sage Contractor 100 a plus
  • 5 years minimum experience in Accounting or Finance
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence and executive presence ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills


Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred CPA preferred Construction Accounting preferred Familiarity with Sage Contractor 100 a plus 5 years minimum experience in Accounting or Finance Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
