Civil Engineer

• Manage/prepare plans and specifications for public works projects (drainage, streets, storm drains, sewer lines)
  
• Answer inquiries regarding projects
  
• Develop revised design/construction standards for public works structures
  
• Serve as a construction inspector to ensure compliance
  
• Investigate field problems
  
• Coordinate/perform field work associated with infrastructure projects
  
• Responsible for other administrative duties as needed
  
• Provide technical expertise to a variety of agencies
  
• Prepare estimates/feasibility studies
  
• Prepare visual presentations/reports to present at City Council and Planning Commission meetings
  
• Coordinate public works activities with other City departments, divisions, sections and outside agencies
  
• Secure appropriate grants for agencies
  
• Perform duties related to NPDES compliance for agencies
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor s degree from an accredited college/university with a focus on Civil Engineering coursework
  
• 5 years of professional design, plan review and project administration experience (public agency setting preferred)
  
• PE License preferred
  
• PMP Certification preferred
  
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices and methods
  
• Experience with engineering software applications
  
• Experience with the materials, methods and equipment used in the construction of public works projects
