Chief Financial Officer

A bit about the role:

A growth stage FinTech start-up with presence across 19 countries in Africa is seeking a Chief Financial Officer who will be responsible for all the company s financial strategy, operations and will be a thought partner to the CEO for strategic decisions and for supporting the company in getting more operationally efficient. This role will be part of the senior management team. It will report to the CEO and will work closely with the co-founders of the business.

The ideal candidate will come with experience leading and growing the financial aspects of a business with an in-depth understanding of growth metrics, fast growth and scalability. You ll be obsessed with financial performance, including operational efficiency and also passionate about building teams and people success. Implementing finance and accounting procedures for a group of companies covering multiple jurisdictions as well as having a good understanding of International tax regimes and can oversee their compliance in relation to Payroll, VAT, Income tax, will be key to success in this role.

Requirements

Your daily adventures include:

Lead and develop the financial team: coach, mentor and guide by being a culture champion and driving excellence within the finance team and across the company

Lead all financial functions: business planning, budgeting and forecasting, accounting and reporting, working capital optimisation, treasury management

Review, assess, implement and manage financial control mechanisms, including approval processes, audit etc

Ensure the company s commercial development and decision making are supported by accurate commercial performance analysis

Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organisation s operations, including optimization of liquidity for payment partners to support transactions as well as needs on the normal business side

Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting including operational efficiency KPIs

Drive automation of key processes and work with the company s system and tech teams to champion internal efficiencies within the financial functions and across the business, linked with KPIs and unit economics

Ensure optimal and compliant group and intra-company structures especially regarding intra-company pricing and tax

Support compliance efforts and help manage risk at company level

Support on investment strategies and on organisation s fundraising plans and capital structure by ensuring business plans and KPIs are robust.

What it takes to succeed:(within the first 90 days)

Get to know the ins and outs of the business, in particular; their strategy, their systems, their commercial metrics, their foreign exchange operations

Develop a first plan in order to speed up growth and drive efficiency

Create a wish list of things that you need for the company to be successful

Start managing the financial team and think about scalability and change

Understand who they are, where they are coming from and what they are trying to accomplish, taking their values into account

Join their sales agents in the field for an outreach and spend half a day shadowing their customer experience agents
