Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated board-certified or board-eligible Anesthesiologist to join the team in Hilo Hawaii. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide anesthesia care for a broad range of surgical cases including general surgery orthopedics OB/GYN urology ENT GI endoscopy and other specialties.
- Administer general regional and monitored anesthesia care.
- Pre-operative assessments and post-operative follow-up including pain management.
- Supervise and/or collaborate with CRNAs and other members of the anesthesia care team.
- Participate in perioperative planning and safety initiatives.
- Respond to emergency airway management and codes when needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR system.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
- Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Hawaii
- Strong clinical judgment and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (PALS preferred)
Required Skills:
Conduct patient evaluations histories and physical exams for new and follow-up cardiology patients Manage and monitor patients with cardiovascular conditions such as hypertension coronary artery disease atrial fibrillation heart failure and hyperlipidemia Order and interpret diagnostic tests including EKGs Holter monitors echocardiograms and stress tests Assist in care coordination for procedures or specialty referrals Provide inpatient cardiology consults and follow-ups (if applicable) Participate in hospital rounds discharge planning and transitions of care Educate patients and families on lifestyle changes medications and disease management Collaborate closely with supervising cardiologists primary care providers and support staff
Required Education:
Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain one National certification (AANP ANCC or NCCPA) BLS and ACLS certification required 12 years cardiology or internal medicine experience preferred; strong new graduates with relevant rotations or RN cardiology background considered Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable working independently with physician support EMR experience
