Are you an experienced Radiographer with a passion for breast imaging and leadership Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Superintendent Radiographer to lead our Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Imaging services across Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire.
About the Role
As Superintendent Radiographer you will:
- Take responsibility for all clinical aspects of breast screening and symptomatic imaging services.
- Provide leadership and management expertise to deliver an efficient high-quality service.
- Work closely with the Breast Screening Director and Programme Manager to plan the strategic direction of the Breast Imaging Service.
- Ensure compliance with national targets and NHS Breast Screening Programme standards.
- Manage a shared budget of circa 2m and lead a team of radiographers assistant practitioners and support staff.
What Were Looking For
- Essential:
- HCPC registration
- Postgraduate award in Breast Imaging
- Significant post-graduate radiography experience
- Proven supervisory/management experience
- Desirable:
- Management qualification
- Educated to Masters level or equivalent
Youll need excellent organisational communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage complex services and inspire your team. Knowledge of IR(ME)R regulations and experience in quality assurance and service planning are essential.

- Ability to gather data and compile information and prepare reports
- Ability to develop plan and implement short medium and long-range goals
- Critical appraisal skills
- Organisational & prioritising skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Speed and accuracy
- Good attention to detail
