The Pastry Cook is responsible for preparing and delivering consistent high quality baked goods and confections while providing exceptional customer service presentation and a clean and safe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepares pastries on a daily basis including cookies cakes brownies bars truffles icing frosting etc. according to established recipes.
- Reviews production schedules to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake as well as supplies and equipment needed.
- Gathers ingredients and other supplies from main kitchen and/or pantry as needed.
- Cleans and maintains work areas utensils and equipment.
- Tends to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and/or ingredients.
- Works with other team members to complete production sheets and other tasks as required.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Maintain pace due to event schedule.
- May be asked to show new team members standard operating procedures.
- Additional duties may be assigned.
Skills Knowledge & Expertise
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have at least six months of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Knowledge of bakery/culinary supplies equipment and facilities.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to prepare and bake a variety of pastries and baked goods.
- Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods techniques and quality standards.
- Pastry Certification
- 6 months or more experience in a fast pace kitchen environment
- 6 months or more experience in a bakery
Physical Demands
- Able to stand for the entire shift
- Lift up to 30lbs (as needed)
- Work with hands and fingers frequently (crop cut stock label etc)
The physical demands for this position are sits stands bends lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. These physical requirements may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations.
