DescriptionJob Title: Family Center Van Driver and Center Aide
Position Summary:
The Family Center Van Driver and Center Aide plays a dual role in supporting the Family Centers mission. This position is responsible for safely transporting children families and program participants to and from the Family Center while also assisting with center operations including administrative and program support. The individual in this role ensures a positive and safe experience for families both in transit and at the Family Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Transportation Services
- Safely operate a van to transport program participants to and from the Family Center schools appointments and community events.
- Ensure the safe loading and unloading of passengers including those requiring assistance.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules while accommodating adjustments as needed.
Vehicle Maintenance and Safety
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition.
- Report any mechanical issues or maintenance needs promptly to the Family Center Site Director or appropriate personnel.
- Maintain cleanliness of the van including regular cleaning and disinfecting of passenger areas.
Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to all traffic laws regulations and organizational policies related to vehicle operation and passenger safety.
- Monitor passenger behavior and enforce safety protocols such as seatbelt usage.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies including reporting incidents and contacting Site Director and emergency services when necessary.
Collaboration and Communication
- Communicate effectively with Family Center staff regarding transportation needs and scheduling.
- Assist families and participants with information about transportation procedures and Family Center programs.
- Foster a welcoming and supportive environment for all participants and visitors.
Center Aide Responsibilities
- Assist with daily center operations including organizing program materials setting up for activities and cleaning up after events.
- Provide administrative support such as answering phones filing data entry and assisting families with forms or inquiries.
- Help supervise children during center activities ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Maintain a clean and welcoming environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as sanitizing surfaces organizing supplies and restocking materials.
- Support staff in the preparation and execution of programs and events.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving a passenger van or similar vehicle preferred.
- Prior experience in a childcare administrative or community service role is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of local traffic laws and roadways.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
- Dependability and punctuality.
Additional Requirements:
Current Act 114 Act 34 Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date).
School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
