Skills on the Hill is seeking summer interns to support our summer group programs.
Groups will run at our current locations in Arlington VA and Capitol Hill in Washington DC. from the end of June through mid-August during morning hours.
The ideal candidate is pursuing a career in OT PT Speech Pathology or psychology. Interns will be responsible for assisting with set up clean up ensuring supplies and equipment are prepared during the daily schedule and assisting therapists during structured groups by supporting children with special needs. Interns will participate in orientation and will be provided with written procedures as needed. Interns will receive unique experience working with children who have special needs and gain exposure to learning strategies to support development of motor perceptual communication and social skills.
Internships are unpaid but cumulative hours may be used as part of the application requirements for graduate school of for college course credit. This experience is extremely valuable and may assist those who are making final decisions about career paths.
Our therapeutic summer camp programs run for nine weeks:
- Week 1: June 22
- Week 2: June 29
- Week 3: July 6
- Week 4: July 12
- Week 5: July 20
- Week 6: July 27
- Week 7: August 3
- Week 8: August 10
- Week 9: August 17
Summer interns are needed Monday through Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. with a minimum commitment of two full weeks preferred in order to move forward. Interns play a vital role as a second adult supporting each group so its important that availability is clearly defined.
