Job Summary
Network and Security Summer Internship
Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and inquisitive student to gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and challenging environment. As a Network Engineer & Cybersecurity Intern you will be contributing to the security and efficiency of our clients network infrastructure. This internship will provide you with invaluable exposure to real-world IT challenges and the opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the monitoring and maintenance of network infrastructure including routers switches firewalls and other network devices.
- Assist in troubleshooting network connectivity issues and resolving end-user problems.
- Learn and implement basic network security best practices including intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS) firewalls and access control lists (ACLs).
- Assist in the development and implementation of network security policies and procedures.
- Conduct basic network vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Research and learn about emerging cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
- Assist with network documentation and maintenance of network diagrams.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to discussions on network-related topics.
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Cybersecurity Information Technology or a related field.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP OSI model and network protocols.
- Familiarity with common networking devices (routers switches firewalls).
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity concepts such as threats vulnerabilities and countermeasures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
