What is the Ooks Life Team
Every year NAITSA hires a team of student leaders to help plan and promote events and initiatives for their fellow NAIT students. The Ooks Life Team (OLT) works together to create memorable experiences and a strong sense of campus community.
Being part of OLT means youll grow your skills meet new people and make a real impact on campus (all while getting paid to do it!)
There are several positions on the Ooks Life Teamranging from Clubs Events and Clubs Finance to Promotions Volunteer and Events Coordinators. Each has unique responsibilities but everyone collaborates to bring campus life to the next level.

Position Summary
As a Volunteer Coordinator youll bring the NAITSA Volunteers program to lifeconnecting students with opportunities to give back gain real-world skills and get involved in the community. Youll network with local non-profits coordinate volunteers at events and make sure students are recognized for their efforts through the Volunteer Experience Path on .
This role is all about connecting people building community and helping students make a difference on- and off-campus.
What Youll Do
The Volunteer Coordinator role has four main parts:
Networking & Relationship Building:
- Build relationships with non-profit partners NAIT staff and instructors
- Help partners keep volunteer postings current and respond to student inquiries
- Find new community partners and volunteer opportunities
- Learn what types of volunteer experiences students are most interested in
- Be a point of contact for partners via phone email and in-person
Event Planning & Volunteer Coordination:
- Work with non-profit partners to plan and lead collaborative weekly/monthly volunteer events
- Coordinate and supervise student volunteers at NAITSA events and initiatives
- Provide training and recognition to ensure volunteers feel supported and appreciated
Student Communications:
- Promote the value of volunteering through social media the NAITSA website and newsletters
- Plan and host promotions booths and hallway pop-ups on campus to recruit volunteers and promote volunteering
- Conduct outreach to coordinate and organize non-profits for the bi-annual Volunteer Fair connecting students with non-profits and help to lead the two-day event
- Create and share a monthly volunteer newsletter
- Create and share the monthly Volunteer Spotlight Blog connecting with volunteers to spotlight them
- Provide regular updates to the rest of the team through project updates and marketing plans
Volunteer Tracking & Recognition:
- Assist with the implementation and administration of Vome our volunteer management platform
- Track and record student volunteer hours through
- Administer the Volunteer Experience Path and recognize participant completion
- Support Volunteer Appreciation events each semester
- Develop creative ways to reward volunteers
- Maintain accurate volunteer records and provide support to NAIT staff using
- Respond to student inquiries via
Hours of Work & Employment Term
- Part-time temporary position starting May 2026 and ending April 30 2027
- Hours vary month to month (limited in summer; busiest during the academic year)
- Primarily on campus with occasional off-campus or remote work as needed
Qualifications
- Enrolled NAIT student for the entire 202627 year
- Must be available for shifts during peak periods including NAIT Student Orientation Pancake Breakfast and Nest Fest
- Great communicator both written and verbal
- Reliable and organized; meets deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Experience with event planning (especially smaller events under 30 people)
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs
- Past volunteer experience is a definite asset
- Access to a computer with a camera and mic for meetings or remote work
