Job Summary

The role

As part of our Defence Delivery Office the Senior Technical Officer (Combat Weapons/EO) is responsible for the output of technical advice and services within the incumbents area of competence and delegation.

Further the successful candidate will:

  • Act as the Weapons / EO senior technical advisor within delegation on Combat Systems related issues for the Engineering Group;
  • Conduct in-service Combat Systems engineering functions as required.
  • Identify and manage in-service engineering supportability issues with the aim to optimise cost increasing reliability and availability and reducing technical risk;
  • Provide assistance liaison technical advice and helpdesk support to Commonwealth stakeholders and the ANZAC (and other classes of vessels as relevant) Technical Support Network on matters affecting the Combat System;
  • Provide input and recommendations for the continuous improvement of company processes and standard procedures.
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies processes and instructions including those relating to non-discrimination safety and duty of care and the quality management system.

Flexible work arrangements such as 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in a field of electronics electrical or system engineering or equivalent on the job experience and related technical training.
  • 10 years experience with command and control or weapon systems (combat systems) fitted to warships as well as experience maintaining warships fitted combat systems;
  • Minimum 3 years experience in supervision of relevant shipboard combat systems maintenance teams;
  • Minimum 10 years experience demonstrated experience in engineering installation / maintenance / repair practices within a quality framework (required to gain level 4 engineering delegation).
  • Extensive experience and familiarity with the ANZAC Class Ships is requirement.

As a defence security clearance is required for this role applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes including ITAR.
