Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madisons Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is responsible for administration of the extramural
research grants and contracts to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. RSP currently manages an open portfolio of over $4 Billion with annual
awards over $1 Billion.


A successful applicant will assist in the management of the Universitys sponsored projects by facilitating the operations and processes related to acceptance and set-up of extramural award grant and contracts. The acceptance and set-up of a research award is a high profile
outward facing linchpin process in the award lifecycle. This position will be responsible for communicating with several key stakeholders including academic and department leadership principal investigators (PIs) and local research administrative support. It will be the
responsibility of this position to assist these stakeholders in navigating this complicated process. This position is responsible for interpreting complex rules policy and regulations and applying sound judgement to ensure each award is compliant with all applicable rules policy and
regulations as it relates to the acceptance and set-up of grants and contracts. This position may also be called upon to train advise and instruct University personnel on extramural support policies and procedure as well as developing and maintain grantor agency relationships.

Primary responsibilities include:
Review process and coordinate modifications that are in compliance with sponsor and institutional policies.
Ensure timely and accurate updates to award records in RAMP Workday and other institutional systems.
Communicate with departmental research administrators principal investigators and sponsors to confirm modification details and resolve issues.
Coordinate with other RSP teams to ensure seamless transitions between award setup and post-award phases.
Contribute to process improvement efforts as RSP integrates and streamlines setup and maintenance workflows.
Perform normal award set-up duties.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews interprets negotiates and processes complex extramural award documents proposals and agreements according to established policies and procedures to adhere to timelines and meet unit objectives (65%)

  • Develops and facilitates trainings for designated work units on extramural negotiation contracting conditions and associated policies and procedures (5%)

  • Issues sub-awards and sub-contracts (5%)

  • Establishes accounts in the financial accounting system (25%)

Compensation:

The starting salary for this position is $63000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with sponsored project award management.

Education:

Bachelors Degree Required Degree in Business Administration or related field is desirable.
