Job Title:Legal Secretary Family Employment & Litigation (Part Time)
Location:Stony Stratford Milton Keynes
Salary:Competitive Dependent on Experience
Permanent Part-Time:Either: 3 full days per week 09:00am 5:15pm OR 5 days per week 09:30am 2:30pm
Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to lawyers specialising in Family Employment and Litigation. This is a key support role within a busy legal team requiring strong organisation accuracy and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Typing and drafting legal documents including:
- Contracts and agreements
- Court forms
- Witness statements
- Court bundles
- Audio typing (essential).
- Carry out routine AML checks and prepare relevant compliance paperwork.
- Diary management using Outlook.
- Answering telephones and managing general correspondence.
- Use the court portal to upload and monitor divorce and employment matters.
- Assist with file costing and invoice preparation.
- Maintain case management systems and organise client files.
- Prepare court bundles and case documentation.
- Perform general office administration:
- Photocopying
- Scanning
- Filing
- File opening and closing
- Liaise with court staff and barristers clerks.
- Communicate with clients in person by phone and by email.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Legal Secretary ideally within family employment or litigation.
- Strong audio typing skills are essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong IT skills including:
- Microsoft Word
- Outlook
- Excel
- Legal case management systems (e.g. Solpak)
Desirable
- Prior experience supporting family or employment law teams.
- Experience preparing court bundles and legal documentation for hearings.
