JOB SUMMARY
The Liberty County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the full-time position of Athletic Coordinator within the Recreation Department. This position is responsible for overseeing athletic programs organizing sports events and ensuring that the athletic division runs smoothly and effectively.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists with planning organizing and supervising sports events.
- Sets up all necessary equipment on fields and insides facilities before practices or games are played; closes facilities after activities close.
- Monitors games (officials scorekeepers spectators and participants) to ensure that all rules are followed and that the park is a safe environment for the public.
- Inventories sports uniforms and equipment. Washes and cleans uniforms; Issues uniforms to every team and for every sport; assists with ordering new uniforms equipment and supplies for all recreation sport activities.
- Sanitizes and cleans all sport equipment to provide a safe and healthy environment.
- Assists with issuing team sports equipment.
- Inventories and purchases concession and janitorial supplies; stocks and sets up concession stands; and supervises three-concession stands for the games.
- Manages indoor (gyms) and outdoor facilities for all sports.
- Recruits volunteer coaches officials and workers; schedules and conducts volunteer pre-season coach meetings; and registers all volunteer coaches into the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS); and conducts background checks for all volunteer participants.
- Assists with the league standings.
- Assists with pre-season sports evaluations.
- Chaperones and transports teams to sport events (attends in-state and out-of-state sport events); verifies all tournament athletes prior to competition.
- Assists in the transportation of After-School Program participants.
- Supervises part-time workers and officials.
- Officiates and keeps score of games as needed.
- Assists with office duties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of county ordinances and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of the operations and functions of the Recreation and Parks Department.
- Knowledge of department safety rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software and equipment.
- Knowledge of sports rules and scheduling.
- Knowledge of park procedures.
- Knowledge of NAYS program.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting standing walking crouching bending or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects climbs ladders uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity distinguishes between shades of color and utilizes sense of smell.
- The work is typically performed in an office stockroom in a very noisy place or outdoors occasionally in a cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust dirt grease. Work requires use of protective devices such as masks goggles and gloves.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates degree in a related course of study preferred.
- More than one (1) year of related experience required.
- Possession of a valid Georgia Class C drivers license.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The annual compensation range for this position is $50627 to $52673 depending on qualifications.
