About The Role:
The Midwifery Unit Manager facilitates and coordinates a timely seamless flow of pre-operative patients current inpatients and elective and emergency patients whilst ensuring the needs of our Visiting Medical Officers (VMO) are met and each unit is appropriately staffed to accommodate patients.
The Midwifery Unit Manager will provide clinical leadership and management of the Birth Suite and Postnatal Ward oversee the co-ordination of bed allocations recruitment participate in emergency responses and provide operational support to the clinical teams as required.
This role fosters the optimal patient experience by ensuring the flow through the hospital in collaboration with all key stakeholders including but not limited to VMOs and their practice manager referrals coming through other hospitals via Patient Flow Co-ordinators and clinical managers.
The Midwifery Unit Manager is required to liaise with VMOs and respective practice managers to ensure that patient admission experience and assessment or transfers into the hospital are exceptional.
The Midwifery Unit Manager will support the Maternity Manager with daily patient experience rostering recruitment HR concerns incident management and strategic management.
About You:
Current registration with AHPRA.
5 years minimum clinical Birth Suite experience.
Post-graduate Management qualifications or working towards equivalent.
Previous management and/or Leadership experience including Nursing Unit Manager.
Advanced clinical midwifery experience and be able to demonstrate clinical credibility.
Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management.
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation including Equal Employment Opportunity Nursing Awards Industrial Relations and Workplace Relations Act ACSQHC National Standards statutory requirements Department of Health guidelines and regulations Workplace Health & Safety Infection Control Fair Work Legislation and their impact on the delivery of care.
Knowledge of human resource management and financial management together with skills in policy and procedure writing analytical problem solving creativity planning and organising.

About The Mater:
In this role you will be based at the Mater hospital North Sydney.
One of Sydneys premier private hospitals.
Close by to train stations at North Sydney St Leonards and Crows Nest and buses on Pacific Highway.
The only Australian hospital that is a member of the International Society of Orthopaedic Centres.
Core specialties include Obstetrics Orthopaedics including hip and knee joint replacements bone and sports injuries cardiology cancer care and surgery lung and vascular medicine ear nose and throat surgery urology endocrine surgery and neurosurgery.
