Job Summary

Senior Accountant
Location: Washington DC
Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent

Position Overview:
The Senior Financial Accountant will join a dynamic financial accounting and reporting team contributing to the integrity of financial data that supports informed strategic decision-making. This role requires adaptability intellectual curiosity and a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare general ledger accounting functions including journal entries month-end and year-end close processes annual report preparation financial reporting accuracy and GL account reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analyses for income statement accounts international entities and month-over-month balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and consolidated financial packages in accordance with GAAP
  • Collaborate with management to analyze and document proper GAAP accounting interpretations
  • Maintain and update internal process documentation for accounting procedures and policies
  • Identify areas for automation leverage technology and bring innovative ideas to existing processes
  • Prepare schedules and supporting data for annual financial statements and tax filings
  • Provide data and schedules for audit requests during interim and year-end audit cycles supporting both external and internal audits
  • Perform special projects analysis and ad hoc reporting as needed
  • Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
  • 4 years of progressive experience in accounting finance or auditing roles
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial concepts
  • Clear and concise communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and power pivot
  • Experience with accounting process automation (e.g. Alteryx) strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated initiative in research and follow-through
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with Oracle Hyperion Smartview BlackLine Salesforce Bloomberg Tax and Accounting Leases and Fixed Assets and SAP software preferred
