The Head of Learning Support leads the vision and strategic development of inclusive education and learning support services at ISZL. Working in a culturally rich international school community this role ensures alignment of practices across divisions drives the effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) model oversees screening and diagnostics builds the capacity of staff and ensures that every learner is empowered to succeed.

This is a full-time position and will begin in August of 2026.

The Role

The Head of Learning Support is expected to:

Strategic Leadership & Alignment

  • Provide leadership for learning support services across Early Years Primary Middle and High School divisions ensuring that practices are coherent high-quality quality and aligned with ISZLs mission and values.
  • Ensure the continued development clarity cross-school collaboration and effectiveness of the schools MTSS framework building on the established foundation to promote consistent understanding alignment and thriving implementation across the ISZL community.
  • Lead the learning support team across the campuses ensuring consistency coordination and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with divisional leadership teams curriculum teams and the admissions team to ensure policy practice and teaching are aligned with school-wide goals around inclusion and well-being.
  • Ensure that the latest evidence-based approaches in educational psychology learning support inclusion interventions and special education are embedded in the schools practice.

Screening Assessment & Admissions

  • Design and oversee a school-wide screening and diagnostic schedule (cognitive achievement behavioural social/emotional) to identify students learning and support needs early and accurately.
  • Guide the administration interpretation and reporting of educational assessments and screeners and ensure high-quality written recommendations and follow-up plans.
  • Lead the screening process for admissions in coordination with the Admissions Office ensuring that new students are appropriately assessed for support needs.
  • Monitor progress of students receiving support using data systems to track outcomes evaluate the impact of interventions and refine the approach.

Professional Learning & Capacity Building

  • Lead professional learning for the learning support team and teaching staff in areas such as MTSS screening/diagnostics differentiation inclusive classroom practices social/emotional learning and behaviour support.
  • Mentor and coach members of the learning support team promoting a culture of collaborative inquiry shared leadership and continuous improvement.

Collaboration Communication & Inclusion

  • Serve as key consultant to classroom teachers specialists and parents on strategies to support learners with diverse needs including designing intervention plans and accommodations.
  • Maintain a cohesive and comprehensive view of our students as learners by liasing with counselling nursing EAL safeguarding and others across the school.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external professionals (therapists psychologists agencies) when additional services are needed ensuring effective collaboration and continuity of support.
  • Communicate and partner with families from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds ensuring inclusive respectful and transparent engagement in the planning and review of support services.

Monitoring Evaluation & Quality Assurance

  • Establish and maintain data-tracking systems for progress monitoring intervention effectiveness and overall service delivery.
  • Periodically review and refine learning support policies procedures and protocols.
  • Provide regular reports to the leadership team on learning support metrics trends in student needs resource allocation and impact of programmes.
What we are looking for
  • Certification/licensure as a School/Educational Psychologist is highly desirable.
  • A Masters or Doctoral degree in Educational Psychology School Psychology Special Education or a closely related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a school or comparable educational setting preferably with an international or culturally diverse student population and with leadership/coordinating responsibilities.
  • Proven expertise in screening diagnostics psycho-educational assessment MTSS frameworks inclusive practices and intervention planning.
  • Excellent communication collaboration organisational and leadership skills; ability to work across divisions and with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience delivering professional learning and coaching to teaching/support staff.
  • Commitment to inclusive education student well-being multicultural community and continuous professional growth.
  • IB Experience: PYP MYP and DP
