Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit including GO Expansion Light Rail Transit routes and major expansions to Torontos subway system to get people where they need to go better faster and easier. Our Ontario Line Office is seeking a Project Manager Joint Corridor to administer a variety of tasks associated to the Ontario Line Project and supervise external consultants involved in the provision and administration of a variety of services for the project in a safe timely standardized and cost-effective manner for quality services.


This is a Contract up to 10 months.

What Will I Be Doing

  • Performs complete start to close-out project management on selected complex high-risk projects as required to meet corporate commitments with or without staff delegation
  • Manages a complex capital transportation project from planning and design stages to commissioning and closeout consistent with corporate commitments (budget schedule quality etc.).
  • Manages all aspects of project scope of work; initiates prepares and presents agreements that govern the engagement of consultants suppliers and contractors for execution.
  • Ability to gather and process applicable project related information and provide detailed analysis during the development of conceptual preliminary and detailed design including design alternatives and value engineering alternatives.
  • Manages projects involving effective coordination and liaison with a large number of internal and external stakeholders including other areas of the Capital Projects Group and other Metrolinx departments municipal or agency partners and Railways.
  • Coordinates procurement of contracts property requests for acquisitions purchase orders change orders for supply/construction contracts and addenda for consultant assignments.
  • Serves as technical specialist on studies as well as design and construction matters.
  • Defines the need for concept preliminary or detail design alternatives and new or improved procedures design standards specifications or contract documents
  • Provides administrative design editing technical estimating and priority direction to staff and personnel assigned to individual projects through all project stages
  • Reviews requests for acquisitions requisitions for purchase orders change orders for contracts and addenda for consultant agreements
  • Coordinates a number of complex tasks under pressure to meet schedule and budget commitments
  • Reviews and evaluates consultant studies reports design proposals specifications and contract documents to meet established policies procedures and standards

What Skills & Qualifications Do I Need

  • Completion of a degree in civil/structural engineering or related field or a combination of relevant education training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrates experience in project management preferably within the public sector
  • Demonstrates experience in managing and delivering projects involving planning design construction and commissioning with a preference given to railway track & structures in an operating railway environment.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience to manage multiple complex projects under pressure to meet schedule budget and quality requirements.
  • Excellent oral written/presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a large matrix team environment.
  • Ability to review drawings engineering reports design proposals specifications
  • Knowledge of contract law the Occupational Health & Safety Act and construction standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of DBB construction contracts with demonstrated experience of delivering transit infrastructure projects
  • PMP certification is strongly desired
  • Project management experience to manage assigned projects of high value and complexity and supervise staff engaged in all stages of project management from start to close-out
  • Experience on heavy rail projects is an asset
  • Experience with on-corridor utilities shoring bridges and structures would be considered assets
  • A valid Ontario G Drivers Licence for site visits.
