The Underwriting Assistant plays an essential role within the Surety division supporting the underwriting team by managing documentation communication and workflow efficiency. This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals seeking growth opportunities in the surety underwriting field.
The Underwriting Assistant provides administrative and technical support to the Surety underwriting team ensuring accuracy compliance and timely service delivery. This individual acts as a key liaison between underwriters and agency partners contributing to the departments overall success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support underwriters by preparing documentation reports and correspondence to facilitate underwriting decisions.
- Issue invoice and maintain bond documentation
- Prepare indemnity agreements and other miscellaneous agreements.
- Maintain electronic underwriting files and ensure organized accurate record keeping.
- Provide exceptional client service by responding promptly to agency inquiries.
- Manage daily workflow including emails mail and tracking follow-ups using suspense calendars.
- Close bonds billing additional/return premiums as necessary
- Troubleshooting with our Accounting team as necessary to resolve discrepancies
- Assist with other administrative duties as needed.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- 2 years of experience in a banking accounting finance or other professional business environment.
- Bachelors degree preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- Intermediate level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook) and strong computer literacy.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to organize prioritize and complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
