Maricopa County is seeking a Youth Tobacco Supervisor to take charge of designing impactful curricula engaging activities and community programming aimed at preventing and reducing tobacco and nicotine use among our this role you will be at the forefront of youth leadership development education and health promotionmaking a real difference where it matters most.

We Require

  • Three years of experience coordinating and administering Public Health programs with a focus on community engagement with diverse populations

  • Masters Degree in Health Education Public Health Public Administration Social Work or a related field

  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Prior management or health supervisory experience

  • Experience partnering with diverse advocacy groups that serve youth (ages 14-19)

  • Experience working with tobacco use prevention and cessation at the level of policy systems or environmental change

Job Contributions

  • Supervise program staff: Hire train set goals monitor performance coach and take disciplinary action as needed to ensure team effectiveness

  • Lead program planning: Participate in strategic planning and help develop program goals objectives and action plans

  • Oversee program delivery: Manage and evaluate youth tobacco prevention programs offered in-person or through virtual platforms

  • Monitor and report progress: Create reports to assess program outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Use data to drive impact: Analyze community data and social determinants of health to identify and prioritize target populations

  • Support program logistics: Coordinate with partners on contracts funding and resources needed for successful implementation

  • Build partnerships: Work with schools health centers agencies and other stakeholders to define and support community health goals

  • Contribute to statewide efforts: Participate in Arizona tobacco prevention workgroups to stay informed and aligned with broader initiatives

Working Conditions

  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions

  • May be required to work a flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs

  • Requires traveling to and from job-related locations during the workday subject to County policies regarding the use of private vehicles on County business

  • Valid Arizona drivers license is required upon hire

  • Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency

  • Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally 10 lbs. frequently or negligible amounts constantly and requires walking/standing to a significant degree

  • Must secure and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Within one month of hire all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles mumps rubella) Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria) Varicella (chickenpox) and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
