Minimum requirements include:
Bachelors degree in physical earth or life sciences.
Two years of directly related experience.
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Help protect Montanas water resources and public health as a Water Quality Permitting Scientist (MPDES) in the Water Protection Bureau at the Department of Environmental Quality. This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of environmental science and policy by implementing the Montana Water Quality Act and Clean Water Act.
Water Quality Permitting Scientists are responsible for:
Performing scientific and technical analyses of water quality data to inform regulatory decisions.
Reviewing and implementing state and federal statues rules and policies.
Reviewing specifications and processes at public works and industrial facilities
Writing technical documents for a general audience
Building stakeholder relationships grounded in excellent customer service and responsive collaboration
