The position would support the general education classroom and special subject allied arts classes such as Art Music Physical Education in order to support educational access and : $40 to $60 per hour depending on training and experienceKey Responsibilities:This role is integral to providing a fully inclusive and accessible educational environment for a student who is deaf/hard of hearing. Your responsibilities will center on facilitating communication supporting educational goals and fostering a collaborative learning Communication & Language AccessProvide ASL and spoken language interpreting for a student in various educational settings including classroom instruction assemblies ensuring full language access to the interpreting methods to meet the diverse linguistic and communication needs of the student maintaining fluency in both American Sign Language (ASL) and as a communication bridge between students teachers and staff ensuring effective voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice message & Team CollaborationPartner with classroom teachers to ensure consistent signed communication strategies across all instructional and therapy with speech therapists and other members of the educational team to enhance students language and speech participate in the IEP process by assisting with data collection sharing performance insights and making recommendations related to interpreter use and communication and orient general education teachers and students on the role of the educational interpreter and the interpreter professional relationships with staff and students upholding confidentiality and professional boundaries at all Conduct & DevelopmentUphold and adhere to the professional guidelines set forth by the National Association of Interpreters in Education (NAIE) and the NAD-RID Code of Professional seek professional growth by staying current with literature participating in professional development and actively engaging in staff :Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a deep understanding of the educational needs of deaf and hard of hearing collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary and a willingness to support a wide range of classroom activities including art music and physical or exceed the minimum requirements set by the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing (MCDHH) and the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) including an MCDHH Screening and a minimum rating of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).Bachelors Degree of an Interpreter Training Program (ITP) and experience in child development and education are a plus.
