Job Summary

Job Summary:

The Per Diem Cafeteria Assistant supports the daily operations of the school kitchen and lunchroom on an as-needed basis. This role ensures the smooth delivery of food services by assisting with meal preparation serving and maintaining a clean safe and organized dining environment. The Cafeteria Assistant works collaboratively with the kitchen and lunchroom staff to provide a positive experience for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up and serving meals ensuring adherence to food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and lunchroom areas including washing dishes wiping surfaces and disposing of waste.
  • Monitor students during meal times to promote safety and proper behavior in the lunchroom.
  • Stock and replenish supplies such as utensils trays and condiments as needed.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations including food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to students.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food Services Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Experience in food services or working in a school environment is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Flexibility to work on short notice and adapt to varying schedules.
