Job Summary

Primary Purpose:


Dynamic visual storyteller to assist the Communications team in creating documentary and cinematic
marketing PR and social media content that amplifies the diverse work of the Harris County
Department of Education across multiple channels for all stakeholders.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:

  • Bachelors degree in Multimedia Communications or Broadcast Journalism is preferred or

equivalent work experience

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Fluency in Adobe video production/editing platforms including Premiere After Effects and
  • Photoshop.
  • Proficient in audio and video capture with Sony XDCAM GoPro and DSLR/Mirrorless
  • platforms.
  • Proficient in graphic design platforms including InDesign and Powerpoint
  • Ability to work well in both controlled studio environments and fluid location settings.
  • Strong writing skills capable of developing compelling video scripts and storyboards.
  • Capable of turning projects quickly.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and
  • meet deadlines.
  • Must have a willingness to receive creative feedback.
  • Possess a desire to serve others.
  • Proficient with PC and Mac platforms

Experience:

  • Three years experience in video production for documentary or corporate visual storytelling.
  • Motion and graphic design experience is a plus.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Produce write direct capture and edit video in a professional manner.
  • Develop concepts plan production produce video to include scriptwriting location
  • scouting shot selection video shooting sound design digital effect creation final
  • editing and video archiving.
  • Produce daily and long-term video assignments sometimes as part of a team and
  • often as a solo videographer/producer.
  • Shoot and edit a wide range of video projects including news event marketing
  • and social media-focused productions for both internal and external audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with divisions marketing efforts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
