JOB TITLE: PART-TIME SAFETY AND SECURITY DISPATCHER DEPARTMENT: SAFETY AND SECURITY

SALARY RANGE: HOURLY BASED ON EXPERIENCE FLSA: EXEMPT

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Safety and Security Supervisor

SCHEDULE DETAILS: Part-time hourly (not to exceed 19.5 hours weekly)

Position Summary

Ozarks Technical Community College is seeking a dedicated Safety and Security Dispatcher to serve as the central communication hub for campus safety operations. This role involves dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls monitoring campus safety systems and supporting the overall mission of the Safety and Security Department.

Essential Job Duties

  • Dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls using a computerized radio system and multi-line phone system.
  • Obtains and processes critical information from the caller and determines the appropriate agencies required based upon the type of incident available resources and life-safety priorities.
  • Monitor alarms weather radar scanners and video surveillance systems for events affecting the college. Ability to relay information or dispatch personnel based upon observations or alarm type.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Maintain accurate logs of communications key inventory equipment checks and lost and found.
  • Assist officers by locating individuals on campus and providing vehicle registration information.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required.
  • Support department morale and success by adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned including attending college functions and community events.

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in emergency communications/dispatch or 2 years experience in a customer-oriented atmosphere or in a high-volume call center.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and calmly over radio and phone systems.
  • Ability to use computers and standard office equipment.
  • Skilled in email internet browsers and cloud-based platforms
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to use computers and related technology
  • Valid drivers license

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
  • Experience with dispatch and communication equipment.
  • Familiarity with Colleague or similar student information systems.
  • Prior experience in a collegiate or campus environment.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift carry push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.

Environment:Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.
