SP Energy Networks is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Control Engineer to join our Operational Control Centre (OCC) team. This is a critical role responsible for the safe and efficient control of our Transmission and Distribution electricity networks under normal outage and fault conditions.
What youll be doing
Will be expected to gain CONT authorisation at Distribution and / or Transmission Voltages
Ensure that the network is operated in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with Operational Procedures and Safety Rules.
Manage the operational interface between Network Operations Incident Controllers and DCC to ensure associated Customer Service targets are delivered.
Manage the operational interface with NESO to optimise the security of supplies to our end customers.
Responsible for the implementation and management of National Power Outage Emergency Procedures
Liaison activities associated with the adjacent Transmission System Operators if appropriate.
Understand IIS and BMCS targets associated with the Transmission and Distribution networks and ensure the network is operated in such a way that minimises the exposure to any penalty costs.
Manage customer service proactively and reactively as appropriate to meet all customer service KPIs.
Responsible for the control and implementation of the power system defence mechanisms including load reduction emergency load shedding and under frequency load shedding.
Actively participate in business and organisational change such that the performance productivity and service standards of the Operations business are maintained and/or improved.
Approve and Control all outage and network access requests ensuring risk to network and system security is minimised.
Complete all associated statutory reports and paperwork for Network incidents.
Actively monitor outage requests to minimise effect on system and targets.
Co-ordinate outage planning and liaison with internal/external third parties for all network activities.
Actively support the provision of operational data such that operational IT systems are accurate e.g. SOP/OR.
