| Position Summary: | Are you a passionate education professional eager to welcome new students to the University of Dayton community The University of Dayton is seeking a Director Student Transitions & Family Programs! This position will provide strategic leadership overseeing New Student Orientation Welcome Weekend Family Weekend pre-arrival programs and supporting commuter and transfer students. The Director of Student Transitions & Family Programs is responsible for all aspects of development coordination implementation and assessment of critical student onboarding programming to include New Student Orientation Welcome Weekend Family Weekend and Camp Blue. This position leads the departments strategic planning provides guidance and support for all programs and services and oversees all departmental assessment communication technology and leadership development strategies. The Director provides direct supervision to the Assistant Director and indirect supervision of undergraduate student leaders including the Orientation and Welcome Weekend Leaders Camp Blue Counselors and student staff. The Director works in collaboration with staff and faculty across campus and off-campus partners to maintain the University of Daytons commitment to intentional integrated and successful onboarding experiences for all students. The Director will understand the positive impact of the onboarding experience on campus engagement student success and retention efforts working cohesively with academic partners to create opportunities for campus connection and support for every student that enters the UD community. | Minimum Qualifications: | *Masters degree *Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions student onboarding student success student engagement new student programming student activities student affairs family engagement or retention efforts *Successful experience in the development planning and implementation of large scale multi-faceted programs and events *Experience training advising or supervising student leaders *Effective written and verbal communication skills *The ability to work a flexible schedule including some occasional evenings weekends and holidays (i.e. event weekends described in summary) |

| Preferred Qualifications: | While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications the ideal candidate will bring many of the following: *Masters degree in College Student Personnel Higher Education Counseling or related field *5 or more years of progressively responsible experience in admissions student onboarding student success student engagement new student programming student activities student affairs family engagement or retention efforts *Successful experience running orientation programs for undergraduate students that balance high academic expectations with students social and emotional needs *Demonstrated experience with recruiting training supervising and evaluating professional and student staff. *A thorough understanding of student development theory *Ability to thrive in a team-based educational environment that values high expectations integrity and leadership while possessing positive attitude and enthusiasm *Ability to handle confidential information work independently and work as part of a team *Experience building strong collaborations with offices across campus including Enrollment Management Academic Affairs Advancement academic advisers and faculty *Proven ability to handle multiple projects set priorities meet deadlines and maintain a high level of attention to detail in a fast paced environment *Effective interpersonal skills with the experience of successfully supporting students building meaningful relationships with colleagues and public speaking *Proficiency working with a variety of IT systems such as TouchNet BlackThorn LMS systems etc *Demonstrated ability to inspire others to share a vision *Demonstrated ability to work successfully within a diverse community and provide educational programming from a non-judgmental perspective *Knowledge of and appreciation of our Catholic Marianist work environment |
