Job Summary

The Quality Control Technician will be responsible for ensuring the safety and quality of the sterile compounding environment in a 503A pharmacy by performing environmental monitoring conducting quality tests collecting samples and maintaining precise documentation in compliance with USP <797> standards. This role plays a vital part in maintaining operational excellence and patient safety.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Monitoring: Perform routine monitoring of cleanrooms and controlled areas including air and surface sampling for microbial contamination in compliance with USP <797>.
Quality Testing: Conduct QC testing on compounded sterile preparations including sterility endotoxin potency and pH.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of all QC activities including environmental data test results and equipment calibration logs.
Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate clean and maintain QC instruments such as laminar hoods incubators and analytical equipment.
SOP Adherence: Follow and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and consistency.
Investigations & CAPA: Support investigations of deviations non-conformances and out-of-specification (OOS) results; assist with Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Training Support: Assist in training staff on aseptic techniques gowning and compliance with USP <797> standards.
Inventory Management: Track QC supplies reagents and media to ensure availability and proper storage.
Collaboration: Partner with pharmacists compounding technicians and QA personnel to ensure workflow alignment and quality standards.
Regulatory Preparedness: Support inspection readiness for state boards FDA or other regulatory bodies ensuring all QC documentation is audit-ready.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a sterile compounding pharmacy microbiology lab or related field. Familiarity with USP <797> and USP <800> standards cGMP principles and pharmacy regulations.
Experience in aseptic techniques and cleanroom operations.
Strong attention to detail documentation accuracy and organizational skills.
Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Docs Sheets).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

Associates or Bachelors degree in a science-related field (biology microbiology chemistry).
Prior experience in a 503A or 503B pharmacy environment.
Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license from PTCB or NHA.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods while performing testing and environmental monitoring.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in a controlled cleanroom environment.
Ability to maintain focus in an environment with moderate noise and strict cleanliness standards.

Benefits

Pay: $24.00 $27.00 per hour (based on experience).
