An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Organisation Design Manager to join the Organisation Design and Strategic Capability team within Social Security Scotlands Organisational Development function. This role offers a rare chance to be part of an organisation still in its formative stages transitioning from a period of growth into efficiency and stability. As part of our team you will play a key role in shaping structures ways of working and organisational design solutions that enable us to deliver on our strategic priorities and improve outcomes for the people of Scotland.

We are looking for someone who is curious confident and proactive with strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels. You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment thinking on your feet and contributing innovative ideas that influence and shape how we operate.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Organisation Design Lead to shape deliver and embed Organisation Design initiatives that improve service delivery and performance.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new organisational structures operating structures and target operating models.
  • Contribute to the development of the organisations Approach to Performance collaborating with stakeholders to design solutions that respond to challenges such as embedding a performance culture.
  • Build strong influential relationships with senior leaders to understand their needs and translate them into practical impactful design solutions.
  • Provide clear evidence-based input on the organisational impacts risks and opportunities that influence our success.
  • Support organisation design reviews through analysis insight and identification of opportunities for improvement.
  • Build internal capability in organisation design through coaching training and toolkits. Contribute to the Civil Service OD&D community and share best practices.
  • Support leadership development aligned with new organisational models.


Qualifications

Qualifications
Professional qualification in Organisation Design HR or a related field or equivalent experience.

Technical:

  • Organisational Development and Design (OD&D):
    • Uses diagnostic methods (e.g. data analysis interviews focus groups surveys) to assess the effectiveness of current design and to agree target design criteria.
    • Applies a systematic process and approach to designing future operating models teams structures and jobs.
    • Develops and manages change implementation programmes and plans engaging leaders staff and stakeholders (doing with not to).
    • Consultancy skills and the ability to establish high support-high challenge relationships with leaders and facilitate group processes to achieve outcomes.

Experience

  • Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

  • Confident in analysing evidence identifying insights critical evaluation and applying findings to develop robust processes.

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location which will be either Glasgow or you have specific questions about the role you are applying for please contact us.

This role is only available to existing permanent civil servants who have successfully completed their probation period within Social Security Scotland or the broader Scottish Government.
