Job Summary

He aha te tūranga - About the role: 

The Tactical Medicine Tutors will facilitate Tactical Medicine courses to both the public and private clients with a particular emphasis on delivering courses to a frontline emergency service. 

We have availability for either full (40 hours/week) or part-time (40 hours/fortnight) on a 6-month fixed-term basis. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility to travel outside of Auckland to cover any course gaps. 

Content may include:

  • Introduction to MARCH
  • Introduction to Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) including MARCH
  • Direct threat care (massive haemorrhage control)
  • Managing serious crashes and industrial incidents
  • Major haemorrhage control
  • Common trauma and medical conditions (FA level)
  • Major incidents and major injuries (FA level)
  • Environmental conditions (FA level)

Qualifications :

Ko wai koe - About you:

To be successful in this role you will hold a current EMT ATP The below are also beneficial however not mandatory.

  • Previous experience in the Armed forces (Army Navy Airforce) or Police. 
  • Previous experience of Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).  
  • Specialist Emergency Response Team (SERT) experience (desirable).
  • Experienced First Aid Tutor and PHEC Tutor or Clinical Education tutor (desirable).
  • Experience with running scenarios and providing effective debriefing to learners. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Adult education experience and/or coaching/mentoring experience.
