AVEVA PI and PLC Engineer

Horizon Controls Group are seeking an experienced Automation / PI Engineer to join our clients state-of-the-art pharmaceutical facility in Cork. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of process automation and data infrastructure supporting both PLC/DCS control systems and AVEVA PI (OSIsoft PI) environments.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining optimizing and expanding automation and data systems to ensure reliable manufacturing operations process visibility and data integrity across the site.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and develop site automation systems including PLC SCADA and DCS platforms (e.g. Siemens Allen-Bradley DeltaV).
  

• Administer maintain and optimize the AVEVA PI System infrastructure (PI Server PI AF PI Vision etc.).
  

• Integrate automation systems with the PI historian and ensure seamless data flow between OT and IT layers.
  

• Develop and deploy data models dashboards and reports for process monitoring and performance analysis.
  

• Collaborate with process quality and IT teams to implement automation improvements and digital initiatives.
  

• Troubleshoot control and data system issues to minimize downtime and support production continuity.
  

• Participate in change control validation and documentation processes in compliance with GMP requirements.
  

• Support continuous improvement projects and automation system lifecycle management.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelors Degree (or higher) in Automation Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related discipline.
  

• 3 years of experience in automation and/or data systems within a pharmaceutical biotech or regulated manufacturing environment.
  

• Strong experience with AVEVA PI System (PI Server PI AF PI Vision PI Interfaces/Connectors).
  

• Proven experience with PLC/DCS/SCADA platforms Siemens Allen-Bradley or Emerson DeltaV preferred.
  

• Solid understanding of process control data integrity and GMP compliance.
  

• Experience in system integration network architecture and data flow design.
  

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  

• Excellent communication teamwork and documentation skills.
  

Desirable Skills

• Experience with automation data analytics or digital transformation initiatives.
  

• Knowledge of SQL databases Python scripting or Power BI integration.
  

• Familiarity with MES and ERP integration.
  

• Understanding of cybersecurity principles in OT environments.
