Summary
The Chemical Engineer I role is an entry level position performing routine engineering functions on assigned projects or sub-projects of a general nature and limited scope by applying standard mathematical physical science and/or engineering technologies. This role will be primarily focused on programming and data science to support several areas within Materials Engineering including At-Risk Materials Digital Engineering for Materials Engineering on-machine/in-line material/part characterization automation software development and general improvements to Materials Engineering workflows.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assists in the design and/or project/process management of new and current projects products programs components and equipment under technical guidance of higher- level technical experts.
Assists in the development of test procedures and performance of routine engineering evaluation tests product and process capability studies product or project data reviews and other engineering evaluation work.
Prepares evaluation reports analyzes discrepancies and makes recommendations for product test equipment procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime.
Interacts with internal and external stakeholders to assist in resolving routine design development production and acceptance issues.
Supports evaluation regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality reduce flowtime and enhance operational surety.
Provides peer mentorship and support when applicable.
You Must Have
- Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Ability to work remote hybrid or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain if required for position a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
