A Brief Overview

Were looking for a friendly and organized team member to join our Self Pay department! In this role youll be the go-to person for handling communications from families and internal teamswhether thats responding to emails managing work queues in EPIC or keeping spreadsheets up to date. Youll play a key part in ensuring our self pay process runs smoothly while providing thoughtful and attentive customer service. What to Expect:

• Workday: Tuesdays are your must-be-there day

• Flexible Hours: Choose from several shift options (7:00 AM 3:30 PM 8:00 AM 4:30 PM 8:30 AM 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM 5:30 PM)

• Training: Additional days may be scheduled during your training period to help you feel confident and supported

What you will do

Communication & Correspondence:

• Review and process communications from Guarantors Patients and Third Parties

• Handle all mail and correspondence for the Business Office and Finance areas

• Receive and work correspondence within department guidelines

• Manage records release and processing

Self-Pay Account Management:

• Conduct self-pay account review and servicing via phone letter and email

Revenue Cycle Knowledge & Compliance:

• Maintain full comprehension of CHOPs revenue cycle work design including registration billing payment posting accounts receivable follow-up and compliance actions

• Maintain all Protected Health Information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA JACHO third-party contractual agreements and CHOP policies and procedures

• Consistently support compliance by maintaining privacy and confidentiality protecting organizational assets acting with ethics and integrity reporting non-compliance and adhering to federal state and local laws

Quality & Productivity:

• Demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits in every interaction with colleagues and leadership

• Meet established daily and weekly productivity and quality expectations

Training & Collaboration:

• Provide training and cross-training as assigned to new employees

• Interface effectively with all levels of staff and management

• Communicate and collaborate with teams across Patient Financial Services and other departments to improve operational efficiencies

• Provide recommendations for corrective actions to management to enhance revenue cycle efficiency

Safety & Organizational Values:

• Report safety hazards accidents incidents and unsafe working conditions promptly

Additional Duties:

• Perform clerical support functions as needed

• Complete other duties assigned within scope of responsibilities

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED - Required
• Associates Degree - Preferred

Experience Qualifications

• At least one (1) year Operations Customer Service or Support Services experience - Required
• Experience in Healthcare Collections - Preferred

• Demonstrated customer service skills customer focus abilities and the ability to understand Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia customer needs. (Required proficiency)
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. (Required proficiency)
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. (Required proficiency)
• Must pass math test at proficient level. (Required proficiency)
• Must pass basic MS Word and Excel tests with 70% accuracy. (Required proficiency)
• Must have 10-key by touch. (Required proficiency)
• Demonstrated experience with multiple computer applications (Required proficiency)
• Experience in using commonly used electronic health records and healthcare revenue cycle financial management systems. (Preferred proficiency)
