Core responsibilities
System Design: Design and analyze water supply networks treatment plants and other hydraulic structures using CAD and specialized modeling software.
Hydraulic Modeling: Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (using tools like HEC-RAS or SWMM) to optimize performance assess flood risks and predict system behavior.
Technical Analysis: Perform detailed calculations for fluid flow pressure and energy loss to ensure system efficiency and safety.
Project Collaboration: Work with civil engineers project managers and other specialists to integrate hydraulic designs into larger projects and ensure project goals are met.
Site Investigations: Conduct field investigations to gather data assess existing infrastructure and support project planning.
Documentation: Prepare and review technical specifications drawings reports and cost estimates for proposed projects.
Construction Oversight: Monitor construction activities to ensure they adhere to design specifications and resolve on-site hydraulic challenges.
Required skills and qualifications
Education: A bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering or a related field.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise in hydraulic design and modeling software (e.g. WaterGEMS HEC-RAS SWMM AutoCAD).
