An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a high-performing team tasked with providing a broad range of transport modelling analytical research and intelligence services to the County Council. This will primarily involve using our Pan Regional Transport Model (PRTM) and/or County Town micro-simulation application will be supported by other tools to enable the Authority to carry out its transport and land-use planning duties to external Organisations including National Highways partners District Councils Developers and other external users in accordance with the Departments new commissioning principles and Target Operating Model (TOM).
About the Role
You will assist in the development maintenance and operation of transport models and other analytical tools for the County Council.
You will be responsible for providing technical evidence and intelligence to support transport policy and strategy highway development control programme development and business performance intelligence.
You will have a detailed knowledge of the Department for Transports modelling guidance and industry best practice.
You will be responsible for providing technical advice on the appropriateness of evidence for policy impact of growth economy strategy and other assessments.
You will be responsible for the collation analysis and reporting of data including report writing and its presentation to a range of stakeholders.
You will have experience in project management and membership in project teams.
You will undertake such other duties required by the Team Manager commensurate with the duties and grading of the post including deputising for the Senior/Principal Modeller as appropriate.
Subject to career progression you will have extensive experience within the transport and modelling environment and have represented the Department at a senior level.
Subject to career progression you will have extensive modelling knowledge sufficient to support both our commercial modelling consultancy service and the training of junior staff.
Subject to career progression you will have excellent innovative analytical communication and presentation skills.
Subject to career progression you will be able to act on your own initiative work with limited supervision to tight timescales and to agree targets.
You will be responsible for protecting and managing information securely and reporting breaches or suspected information security breaches in line with Council policies.
The nature of the work may involve the jobholder carrying out work outside of normal working hours. You are also likely to have to work in your own time to attain the professional qualification.
You should hold a valid current driving licence.NOTE: any vehicle that you drive whether your own or belonging to someone else must be covered for business purposes which may result in an increased premium. It is your responsibility to ensure it is but note that the County Council will not pay for this.
Expenses will be paid in accordance with the County Councils normal rates referred to as the Local Conditions of Service.
