The Medical Programme Directorate (MPD) provides the management and administration of the MBChB curriculum and its vision documentation/data maintenance of standards improvements and the integration of new initiatives. The MPD also provides leadership and management of all relevant academic processes to implement the programme efficiently actively contributes to the Faculty and its committees with reports and/ or evidence as required and it communicates and liaises with all schools and sites contributing to the medical programme. The MPD sits in the School of Medicine. 

Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced academic to take on the part-time role of Year 4 Coordinator within the MBChB programme. This is an academic coordination role that plays a key part in overseeing Year 4 attachments providing pastoral and academic support for students and contributing to curriculum development and assessment activities.

In this role you will:

  • Oversee Year 4 attachments teaching learning and assessment.
  • Provide orientation monitoring and support for students including those requiring academic or pastoral intervention.
  • Liaise closely with the Phase 2 Director other Year Coordinators academic staff and student support services to ensure the smooth delivery of Year 4.
  • Assist in producing the Year 4 timetable.
  • Contribute to curriculum review development and programme enhancement.

This is a part-time (0.3 FTE / 12 hours per week) Academic permanent position.

The salary range for this role is $120752 $138721(pro-rated) dependent on skills and experience

We are looking for a committed and collaborative individual with strong experience in health professional education. You will be a confident communicator who can balance academic coordination responsibilities with student support and engagement.

Essential:

  • Bachelors degree in Medicine.
  • Experience providing pastoral support to students.
  • Strong communication skills a collaborative working style and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Preferred:

  • Higher degree qualification.
  • At least five years experience in a tertiary institution involved in health professional education.
  • Experience within the MBChB programme at the University of Auckland.
