A highly respected 1118 school in Reading rated Outstanding by Ofsted is seeking to appoint a dedicated and talented Music Teacher to join their thriving Performing Arts Department from January 2026. The successful teacher will deliver Music across KS3KS5 fostering a love of performance composition and musical analysis among students. They will plan and teach engaging lessons that develop confidence technique and a deep understanding of music theory history and appreciation.

The postholder will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations supporting them through all aspects of composition listening and performance assessments.
In addition to classroom teaching the appointed teacher will play a key role in enriching the schools musical life. This includes directing ensembles choirs and orchestras; coordinating concerts and productions; and supporting the delivery of school musicals house events and festivals. Deliver high-quality Music lessons that inspire creativity and intellectual curiosity.
Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A-Level examinations maintaining high standards of achievement and participation.
Lead or assist in running choirs orchestras and instrumental ensembles.
Organise and support school concerts recitals and large-scale productions both on and off-site.
Incorporate music technology notation software and recording tools into teaching and performance.
Encourage student engagement through extracurricular activities such as music clubs workshops and masterclasses.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the Music curriculum and departmental planning.

Degree in Music or a closely related field combined with QTS/PGCE.
Proven experience teaching GCSE and/or A-Level Music with strong understanding of current specifications.
A strong performance conducting or composition background with the ability to lead ensembles confidently.

Ability to inspire students across a wide range of musical abilities and genres.
