Job Summary

Wyman-Gordon located in Worcester MA provides Isothermal Forgings for military and commercial turbine applications using nickel based and titanium alloys. Full Heat Treating Machining and Testing on site. This growing $200 million profit center is part of a highly successful multi-billion $ diversified manufacturer. Precision Castparts Corporation (PCP).

Operations Manager Front End

PURPOSE:

Manage the Front-End Manufacturing activities for the Worcester MA facility. Assure that production variable cost and productivity goals are met or exceeded. Improve on-time delivery to customers to targeted level. Adhere to process control/quality criteria so as to reduce rework and scrap. Manage fixed and variable budgets. Full P&L Responsibility for the Isothermal Forge Shop and mult prep.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Coordinate and manage a full complement of production and production support activities.
Interface and work with key staff positions: Materials Management Product Engineering Quality Accounting HR IT etc.
Drive cost reduction and continuous improvement in the attainment of corporate goals.
Responsible for cost control and budget attainment.
Meet required customer shipping schedules.
Establish working effective relationship with Union leadership.
Establish and execute capital planning efforts supporting manufacturing

REQUIREMENTS:

MBA with B.S./B.A.(engineering discipline preferred) and/or extensive related work experience.
Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience preferably with capital intense metal forming/manufacturing operations
At least 5 years at managerial responsibility with P/L responsibility

SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Results driven and action oriented; analytical skills are key
Computer skills: Planning systems understanding/experience
Familiarity with metal manufacturing processes.
Theoretical and practical understanding of the Theory of Constraints.
Ability to see the big picture.
Stressful work environment.
May require off hours/weekend commitments
