About the Role
IPD Engineering is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (PE) to serve as a lead engineer on a variety of complex projects spanning commercial institutional healthcare and industrial sectors. This is a leadership position offering the opportunity to drive project design from concept through construction administration mentor junior staff and play a key role in technical decision-making and client engagement.
This role can be based out of Syracuse Rochester or Utica with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the lead electrical engineer on assigned projects managing design from initial concept through construction completion.
Draft detailed electrical construction drawings including plans sections elevations and details per company standards.
Design and coordinate power distribution lighting systems and fire alarm systems.
Perform electrical load and energy calculations; select appropriate electrical equipment.
Develop and review construction documents in AutoCAD and Revit.
Review and approve shop drawings respond to RFIs and support field coordination.
Administer projects during construction ensuring conformance to contract documents and addressing field challenges.
Coordinate with internal staff and external consultants to meet design budget and schedule objectives.
Conduct code compliance reviews including National Electric Code (NEC) and International Building Code (IBC).
Participate in client meetings business development efforts and technical presentations as required.
Lead discussions on electrical design concepts sustainability strategies and building performance.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
10 years of experience in electrical design preferably across multiple building types.
Expertise in power distribution lighting fire alarm systems and special systems.
Medium-voltage power distribution design experience strongly preferred.
Proficient in AutoCAD Revit and Microsoft Office Suite.
Thorough knowledge of NEC IBC and related electrical codes and standards.
Excellent communication organization and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently while mentoring junior engineers.
