Purpose

The Community Program Coordinator develops implements andevaluates programs and initiatives that address the needs and priorities ofcommunities in Milwaukee.

Essential Functions

Program Management

  • Design lead and manage initiatives focused on financial literacy education self-care entrepreneurship and youth and family.
  • Manage internal programs including calendars and resources.
  • Provide regular reports on outcomes impacts and areas of improvement for internal and external programs and initiatives.
  • Serve as team leader for all initiatives.
  • Ensure alignment between programs the strategic goals of the Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) and evolving community needs.

Community Engagement

  • Plan and coordinate community meetings events workshops and presentations.
  • Build partnerships and maintain relationships with local organizations community leaders advocacy groups faith-based organizations and government agencies to create a collaborative network for OAAA initiatives and evolving community needs.
  • Liaise communication between the Director and community partners.

  • This position requires traveling to various sites throughout the City of Milwaukee.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Bachelors degree in social work public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  2. One year of experience coordinating or managing programs that support underserved communities.
  3. A valid drivers license at the time of appointment and throughout employment.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may alsobe considered.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Masters degree in social work public administration or a related field from an accredited college or university.

TECHNICAL

  • Ability to stay abreast of current issues and raise visibility pertinent to advancing the achievement of all residents in the City of Milwaukee.
  • Ability to develop and implement programs and policies to improve the quality of life of residents and the community.
  • Knowledge of public relations and community outreach best practices.
  • Knowledge of grant funding through public and private sources; ability to draft grant proposals.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring program budgets.
  • Ability to utilize data and performance measurement tools to track program outcomes.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret work-related documents policies and procedures.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office software especially Word Excel and Outlook.

COMMUNICATION AND INTERPERSONAL

  • Verbal communication skills to convey technical information clearly to various audiences.
  • Written communication skills to craft clear error-free business correspondence and reports.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with the public elected officials community groups co-workers and management.
  • Ability to provide services in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with coworkers and clients whose backgrounds may differ from ones own.
  • Strong public relations skills.

Current Salary

The current salary range (Pay Range 2GX) is$58656-$76474annuallyand the resident incentive salary range for City of Milwaukee residentsis$60416-$78768annually.Appointment above the minimum ispossible based upon level of experience and other qualifications and is subjectto approval.
