Job Summary

Te Whiwhinga mahi The opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood to join our School of Education and Social this role you will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching supervise research theses and undertake supervision/assessment of student teachers on practicum. You will also be encouraged to pursue your own research within early childhood and to contribute to collaborative projects across the school faculty and university

Youll join a collegial and research-active Early Years Hub home to initiatives that promote innovative teaching and impactful scholarship in early childhood such as the Early Childhood Seminar Series the The First Years Ngā Tau Tuatahi and the Centre for Global Childhoods.

This is a full time (40 hours per week) permanent position. 
The remuneration range for this role is between $97831 - $142883 depending on skills and experience.

Youll be a registered and fully certificated teacher (NZ Teaching Council) with a PhD in education psychology or a related field. Youll bring experience teaching in higher education a developing research profile and a strong commitment to research-led early childhood teaching.

You will also demonstrate:

  • A passion for supporting student success across diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication and relational skills
  • An ability to work collaboratively and meet deadlines
  • Understanding of or experience working with Māori and/or Pacific communities in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • A commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in teaching and research
