Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in London Borough of Tower Hamlets to assist with the appointment of a Streetworks Compliance Inspector on a 5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 21.99- 29.16 per hour

Summary:

The Streetworks Compliance Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that all works and activities undertaken on the public highway within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets comply with statutory legislation safety standards and council policies. The postholder will inspect and monitor works by statutory undertakers council contractors and third parties to ensure they meet permit conditions and reinstatement requirements under the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA) and the Traffic Management Act (TMA).
The role is vital in maintaining highway safety ensuring quality reinstatement protecting the integrity of the road network and maximising the recovery of costs and income through enforcement and inspection regimes.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out systematic and investigatory inspections of street and road works ensuring compliance with NRSWA TMA and permit conditions.
  • Ensure all works on the highway are conducted safely and in accordance with the Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice and Chapter 8 requirements.
  • Validate permit condition data and ensure accuracy of information supplied by works promoters.
  • Contribute to financial monitoring by ensuring accurate recovery of costs for defective works and enforcement actions.
  • Promote compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and best practice in site operations.

Essentials:

  • Relevant New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) qualification.
  • Experience in inspecting coordinating or managing streetworks and highway activities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in connection with works on the highway.
