Job Summary
As a Senior Maintenance Planner you will be responsible for developing and executing maintenance strategies for a variety of underground mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This includes:
- Drilling Equipment (Jumbo and Long Hole)
- Loading Equipment
- Hauling Equipment
- Ancillary Equipment
Your goal is to ensure planned maintenance and component replacements meet performance targets such as equipment availability and Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Planning & Scheduling
- Schedule and plan routine maintenance in collaboration with Production and Maintenance teams.
- Track component age and condition using the Pronto CMMS.
- Create and manage Bills of Materials (BoMs).
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
- Maintain accurate routine maintenance data in Pronto.
- Create and manage work orders and requisitions.
- Expedite parts and labor as needed.
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Assist in developing the annual budget using Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB).
- Provide cost and component updates for budget reforecasting.
Reporting & Analysis
- Report monthly on key performance indicators: availability MTBF component usage and cost.
- Analyze historical data to support lifecycle planning and budgeting.
Collaboration & Compliance
- Liaise with suppliers and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with company and government policies.
- Provide input and adhere to the Oceana Asset Management Framework (AMF).
Qualifications :
Required
- 510 years of maintenance experience (preferably in mining).
- 2 years of experience in computer-based planning/scheduling.
- Valid drivers license.
- Technical qualification in Engineering or Asset Management (highly regarded).
Preferred
- Direct experience with underground mining equipment especially Sandvik Normet and Caterpillar.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite Pronto and Xeras (or similar ZBB tools).
- Familiarity with planning tools such as Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) BoMs and work packs.
