Thorne Harbour Health is seeking a compassionate and community-connected Mental Health Peer Navigator / Case Worker to join our expanding Specialist Mental Health Service in Adelaide. If you have lived experience of mental health challenges and/or identify as part of an LGBTIQ community this is a powerful opportunity to walk alongside others on their journey offering support understanding and practical navigation through complex systems.
About the role
You will provide client-centred peer support education and informal counselling to LGBTIQ individuals aged 16 and up who may be navigating multiple barriers to mainstream mental health care.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team you will also:
Offer empathetic and purposeful peer engagement based on lived experience
Assist clients in developing care and recovery plans
Support access to services including GPs housing AOD or trauma support
Provide outreach attend appointments and help navigate complex systems
Help facilitate peer support groups information sessions and workshops
Collaborate closely with the wider therapeutic team in a trauma-informed inclusive framework

About You
This role is ideal for someone with strong interpersonal skills compassion and resilience someone who knows the value of being heard and supported during tough times.
Were looking for someone with:
Lived experience of accessing mental health services and/or navigating life as an LGBTIQ person
A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work Community Services or similar
Willingness and capability to work with clients facing a range of mental health and psychosocial challenges
Commitment to recovery-based harm-reduction and trauma-informed care
An understanding of stigma discrimination and minority stress and a desire to be part of the solution
