The Medical-Surgical Unit at Good Samaritan Hospital is a 24-bed dedicated unit that cares for a variety of patients including general surgery medsurg gynecology psych/detox ENT and general medicine.
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924 CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan youll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery a level II neonatal intensive care unit a nationally accredited cancer center comprehensive neurosurgery advanced orthopedic program and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
As a Charge Nurse at Good Samaritan youll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Every interaction is an opportunity to improve your understanding of a patients needs the needs of your nursing team or the needs of your unit. Youll advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential which aligns with your departments operational goals and objectives.
- Ability to serve as leader and teammate
- Ensure your direct reports and department are positioned to deliver the best care possible to our patients
- High level of engagement with the floor- visibly connecting with nurses patients and families
- Attend meetings with leadership to learn about new initiatives areas for improvement etc. and share that information with your team
- Monitor productivity and efficiency of your department
- Mentor people on your team. Share your knowledge and confidence with nurse managers charge nurses and others
Job Requirements
- Graduate of a RN nursing program.
- Current RN licensure in the State of Nebraska or compact license.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) is required upon hire
