Job Summary

We are thrilled to be collaborating with a respected mixed secondary school in Leicestershire in their recruitment for an Early Career Drama Teacher commencing in January. This role is full-time and permanent delivering Drama / Theatre Studies across Key Stages 35 including GCSE and A-Level.

About the Role
You will bring creativity and energy into Drama lessons guiding students in performance script work devising and theatre theory. The department is supportive and forward-looking allowing you to develop your teaching style within a collaborative framework. You will be encouraged to lead extra-curricular drama clubs produce school shows and contribute to the schools performing arts calendar.

Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS PGCE or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrates passion and subject knowledge in Drama / Theatre Studies
  • Is ready to teach GCSE and/or A-Level Drama (or is eager to grow into that area)
  • Is imaginative organised student-focused and committed to improving their practice
  • Has the legal right to work in the UK

The School
Located in a semi-rural area near Market Harborough this academy is home to approximately 1200 pupils aged 1119. The school is rated Goodby Ofsted reflecting sound academic leadership teaching standards and pupil welfare.

Drama is held in a dedicated performance suite with a black box theatre lighting rig and sound equipment. Rehearsal spaces storage for costumes/props and workshop areas are available to support both curricular and co curricular work.

Staff describe the environment as collaborative with a commitment to creative subject growth and innovation. There is ongoing CPD a mentoring system for ECTs departmental planning time and a senior leadership team keen to support the arts within the school.
