Role Overview
As an Operations Technician you will be responsible for monitoring maintaining and
restoring Brightspeeds network. Youll work in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
supporting Business and Wholesale customer accounts and ensuring ultra-high network
availability.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and troubleshoot Brightspeeds transport network including Optical/DWDM
SONET Ethernet and Digital Loop Carrier (DLC) systems.
Open and manage trouble tickets using platforms such as ServiceNow or proprietary
ticketing systems.
Lead repair efforts with field operations technical support and vendors; coordinate
restoration bridges during outages.
Perform remote equipment-specific testing isolation and maintenance
Analyze network alarms and events using tools like Netcool SolarWinds and other
industry standard tools.
Execute and follow Method of Procedures (MOPs) for planned maintenance and
emergency restoration.
Maintain detailed documentation of network failures root cause analysis and
corrective actions.
Interface with vendors to resolve hardware/software issues and escalate as needed.
Provide Tier I/II support for transport platforms including Cisco Juniper Ciena Adtran
and Calix etc
Validate network subsystem performance using SNMP CLI and GUI-based tools.
Perform circuit testing loopback verification and signal tracing to isolate faults.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to knowledge base
updates.
Train and mentor crossfunctional technicians on troubleshooting procedures and
escalation protocols.
Technical Requirements
Strong understanding of telecommunications protocols including TCP/IP MPLS BGP
OSPF TDM and VoIP.
Experience with fiber optic technologies including OTDR light level testing and
wavelength provisioning.
Familiarity with transport network topologies such as ring mesh and point-to-point.
Ability to interpret network diagrams circuit layouts and equipment manuals.
Proficiency in using Linux/Unix command line for diagnostics and log analysis.
Knowledge of network reliability standards and SLAs for enterprise customers.
Comfortable working in a Network Operations Center (NOC) environment with minimal
supervision.
